Family

Have somehow managed to remain single so far. Still looking for the ‘right’ woman, I guess. Since I have no immediate family still alive, I’m pretty much free to go and do whatever. Not the lifestyle for everyone, but it’s been good to me.

For details, including life history, professional bio, photo albums, etc., please visit my personal web site at www.RogerDaugherty.com. Kind of weird having one’s own web site, but once you get past the ego part, it is enlightening to complete.

For the last 30 years or so, I’ve been based in southern California, living as close to the beach, west of Los Angeles, as possible. I try to stay in easy driving distance of LAX, so travel is not too painful, what with all the new security.

Career

Career and personal life have always been highly intertwined for me. I was recruited straight out of college by a "government agency" who considerately kept me from going to the Army. Once the draft was over, I moved to California and began a career in consulting, the core of which has been computers and related projects and specialties.

Have started or helped start numerous companies, some with great success, other not so much. Most involve producing or utilizing leading edge software. Was first employee of first Pay-Per-View television company in the U.S. We produced all those early PPV events such as the Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard fights. Currently active companies which I’ve founded and/or manage include Claviger Corporation, Aarhus, Inc., and Visionary Technologies Inc..

What I'm Up To Now

I’ve retired a few times over the years, but it never seems to last more than a year or two. At a recent high school reunion, I was asked when I’d retire permanently. I said, “probably never again”.

Activities include singing in barbershop groups and being a member of Pacific Mariners Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, with lots of fishing, sailing, and cruising opportunities (www.pmyc.org). I also love getting away to Mexico whenever possible.
