Class Gift
It's hard to believe that our 40th Reunion is less than three years away. So much has happened in our lives since we left Worcester in 1967 as a WPI graduate.
On June 8-10, 2007 we will be celebrating our 40th Reunion. If you haven't been to many (or any) reunions, please give this one a shot. They're great fun, and you'll get a chance to see how WPI has grown into a world class technical university. Please reserve these dates now. Your Reunion Committee is planning another record event, so don't miss the opportunity to connect with old friends, and relive some of our WPI experiences.
The 40th Reunion also presents us with the opportunity to "give something back" to WPI in the form of a class gift. We have established a 40th Gift Committee to lead this noble effort. The class gift is above and beyond what we normally donate to the Annual Fund. It is a special gift, commemorating our forty years of success.
Early in the three-year campaign, you will be asked how you think our gift should be invested. Many of our classmates have already indicated a strong bias toward a scholarship fund, but we'll be polling the entire class on this before we make our final decision. During this 3 year period, all of our gifts, including gifts to the annual fund, will be credited to our class total, which we will present to WPI at Reunion.
Now, as we are a rather competitive bunch, let's rise to the challenge of previous 40th Reunion classes, and establish a new record for the future. Your gift committee feels strongly that we must set a goal worthy of our great class. While the size of the gift is certainly important, it is, to a large degree, out of our direct control. As such, we have decided to target a record level of participation. No class has ever achieved 90% participation. Why not the Great Class of 1967? Why not 100%?
We all benefited from the generosity of Alumni we never knew. Now, "It's our turn to make a difference." So, jump on board. We can really make a difference for WPI and the bright young men and women who will contribute to the future of our world. In future correspondence, we'll give you more specifics about the reunion; the campaign and info about the many creative "giving vehicles" that are available to us. We look forward to working with you to make this the best effort WPI has ever seen. We trust that after some serious reflection, you'll join us in making a difference.
Sincerely,
