WPI Class of 1996 Board of Directors Alumni Leadership Conference Meeting Minutes of September 9, 2000 Attendees: Marc Lefevbre, K.T. Daly, Cathy Connelly, Kristen Brouillette, Rachel Butland, Cyndi Fusco. Also attending were Dave Koelle '97 and Jami Walsh '97, as well as Kirsten from the WPI Development Office. 1. Reunion Gift Kirsten stressed the importance of having a Reunion Gift chairperson. Our class participation rate last year was only 12%, totalling $8-10,000. In the absence of a chair, Cyndi Fusco was asked to sign a letter being sent out to our classmates, asking them to give to the reunion gift. Kirsten also encouraged us to set both a monetary and particpation goal for the gift, which we set at 25% participation and a total of $25,000. A gift chairperson is still needed, as well as volunteers to call classmates. The board recommended some good people to Kirsten. 2. 5th Year Reunion It's time to start planning our 5th Year Reunion, which will be September 22, 2001. The board appointed Marc Lefevbre as Reunion Chair. He will be responsible for organizing a committee to plan the event. Several members of the board volunteered, and other names of people who might be willing to help out were recommended to Marc. Some ideas that were tossed around included having the reunion off-campus and being the first class to host their 5th reunion outside or inside the new campus center. Marc will contact Donna in the Alumni Office to start the planning process, and promised to update the board at our next meeting on November 4th. 3. Gossip Various news of our classmates was discussed and given to Amy for the website. One idea that was mentioned was a list of "missing" classmates, which we could post on the site. A particularly funny idea involved a milk carton with photos of the missing peole from the yearbook or freshman record. 4. Campus News Amy updated the board on some campus news, including the campus center and academic building/parking garage construction projects. The campus center will open in March 2001, if construction continues to go as scheduled. The new academic building and parking garage project is on hold indefinitely. 5. Newsletter The board decided to send out a newsletter, either for or just after the holiday season. Amy, K.T., and Cathy will work on the articles and get back to the board. Ideas include: - save the date for reunion - campus news from Tech News (formerly Newspeak) - form to update alumni information - holiday greetings
