1996 CBOD Conference Call minutes November 11, 2003 Attending: Cyndi Fusco, Cathy Connelly, Jason Heminger, Marc Lefebver, John Aliberti, Rachel Delisle, Jennifer Riddell March Madness: The idea had come up to do a March Madness/ fantasy league thing of some kind, to make it possible for classmates who are not close geographically to be involved in a class activity. The decision was made to do a March Madness bracket thing, because it was a low time commitment for the organizers and the participants and it is finite. Jay is going to organize the event, and he and Marc will plan a conclusion event, like arranging for all the local folks who participate to meet at some locale to watch the last game. There was discussion about using the holiday card to advertise (see below), as well as some follow-up in early/ mid- February to get people enrolling. Holiday Card: There was discussion of doing a card versus doing a calendar and Jen Riddell said she would investigate cost differences and also how much money the class board has in its account. The board decided to use the holiday (or immediately post-holiday depending on timing) mailing to launch a teaser for the March Madness event, and also to encourage folks to be sure that WPI has accurate contact information for them. Alumni Leadership Council: Rachel and John are the ALC Reps, and are both planning to attend the Council meeting on March 6. If they cannot attend, they will notify the rest of the board, so that someone else can represent the class. Spring Event: There was discussion about a possible spring outing, perhaps a Red Sox, or Pawtucket baseball game. The board wants to get thru the March Madness event successfully before they tackle this next project, so there will be another conference call in late April/ early May to talk about a summer event. There was discussion about planning some type of come-back-to-campus event as well, along the lines of the Holiday concert invitation that went out to Worcester area alumni. Possible events, like a play or a concert, were discussed, and there was agreement that the idea was a good one, and should be pursued in the future. Jen Riddell agreed to get to the CBOD members a spreadsheet including basic demographic information - name, city and state, email address, greek affiliation, and any "lost" classmates. The CBOD members will review the lists and forward to Rachel any changes or inaccurate information; she will collate it and forward it back to Alumni Relations for processing and entry.
