1. Welcome: Summer Transformations Now Online

The summer issue of WPI's Transformations, A Journal of People and Change, was sent to alumni in late July. You can read it online and access extra links and information for each article from the Web site.


2. News

All-New Homecoming Schedule for Oct. 10-11

For the first time in recent memory, the Homecoming football game will be played in the evening (WPI vs. Norwich, 7 p.m.). The time change has led organizers to create an all-new schedule of events. Don't miss out on cookouts, the parade, reunion activities (Classes of 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003) and other festivities.

WPI Helps Send $250K in Donations to Sierra Leone

With the first peacekeeping troops setting foot in neighboring Liberia this month, there's hope war-torn Sierra Leone will stabilize enough to allow WPI representatives to travel there soon, according to a memorandum of agreement signed last year between WPI and the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College. In the interim, WPI and other Worcester area donors recently sent more than $250,000 worth of books, computers, desks and other equipment to the University.

Generous Gifts Upgrade Information Technology

WPI's Information Technology Division recently Received two major gifts. Avaya Inc. donated nearly $300,000 of network cabling and accessories to rewire the residence halls. CADKEY Corporation gave $535,000 in software for mechanical design.

Wired Magazine

In the August issue of Wired magazine, "The Lost City of Venice" outlines the project to build massive floodgates to protect the Italian seaside city. In the article, IGSD Global Program Manager Fabio Carrera details WPI's contributions to the project through the Venice Project Center.

3. Job Posting: GE Needs Principal Consultants

GE Global Asset Protection Services (GE GAPS) currently has Principal Consultant openings in the Hartford/Boston area and New York City. Candidates are responsible for managing loss prevention relationships with Fortune 1000 and other large clients. Specific responsibilities include account handling, development of new accounts, oversight of account profitability, and management of the day-to-day service delivery for the account. Ideal candidates have 5-10 years experience in loss prevention management.
