WPI celebrated on May 16 its 141st Commencement, where students, their families and friends, trustees, and other special guests were on hand to experience the inspirational messages delivered by keynote speaker Ursula Burns, president of Xerox Corp., and WPI President and CEO Dennis D. Berkey.

WPI to Celebrate 141st Commencement on May 16

WPI will celebrate its 141st Commencement on Saturday, May 16. The event will be webcast live, starting at 11 a.m. As part of the ceremony, the university will confer honorary degrees upon four outstanding leaders who have advanced the role that science and technology play in everyday life: the president of Xerox Corp., a groundbreaking technology company that has made office tasks easier; a robotics company founder, whose vision led to the invention of a blockbuster robotic vacuum and robots that save combat soldiers' lives; a pioneering president emeritus of MIT who currently heads the National Academy of Engineering; and an engineer who showed how electronics can be protected from radiation.

WPI Professor Receives Fulbright Scholarship to Conduct Research on Tissue Engineering in Ireland

Professor Billiar

Kristen Billiar, associate professor of biomedical engineering, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research and education related to tissue engineering in Ireland. He is the 14th member of the current WPI faculty to be awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant.
