2000 Recipients
Kimberly Lemoi Bowers '90
Kim Bowers, since your graduation a decade ago, you have distinguished yourself as a leader among young alumni. As chair of your Class Board of Directors and your 10th Reunion Committee, you have worked tirelessly to lead and direct the Class of 1989. You have also been an ambassador for WPI by sharing your experiences with prospective students through the Alumni Admissions Program, and have helped build ties with fellow graduates by serving on the Alumni Association's Communications Committee.
Your leadership as chair of the WPI Regional Club Program and representative to the Alumni Association's Executive Committee led to your participation in the association's master planning process. As chair of the Global Programming Task Force, you were instrumental in developing a guidebook to help geographically diverse alumni coordinate alumni events. Your ideas and sense of direction continue to shape the association's future, and we welcome your continuing commitment to your alma mater.
Kim Bowers, it is with great pleasure that WPI recognizes your devotion of time and energy to your alma mater by presenting you with the John Boynton Young Alumni Award for Service to WPI.
Janet Hammarstrom '80
Janet Hammarstrom, you have been a loyal and active volunteer over the past two decades, giving generously of your time as a class agent and a class representative to the Alumni Council. After receiving your bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, you continued your studies at WPI, completing a master's degree in 1982 and a Ph.D. in 1987. Through that time, you shared your educational and professional experiences with others through the Career Networking Program and the Alumni Admissions Program.
You have stepped forward often with quiet dedication to support your alma mater, most recently by accepting the position of corporate agent. In this role, you help leverage corporate matching gifts by personally following up with alumni co-workers who have not started the matching gift process. You have also leveraged your professional knowledge for the benefit of your alma mater, helping strengthen the ties between WPI and Saint-Gobain/Norton by fostering alumni communications within the corporation.
Janet Hammarstrom, it is an honor to recognize your commitment to your alma mater by presenting you with the John Boynton Young Alumni Award for Service to WPI.
