Responsibilities of Class Board Members
The board of each class is comprised of the following members:
- Chairperson (or co-chairpersons)
- The chairperson is responsible for convening the board once a year, chairing the meeting and ensuring that members of the board fulfill their responsibilities.
- Secretary
- The secretary is responsible for taking minutes of the board meeting and documenting the action items for the class. The secretary should forward a copy of the minutes to the Alumni Office.
- Communications Chairperson
- The communications chairperson is responsible for initiating ideas to help classmates keep in touch. This might include a class Web site, a class newsletter (by mail or electronic), an article or introduction of the class notes section of the WPI magazine, Transformations, or a class activity.
- Alumni Leadership Council Representative
- The Alumni Association is governed by the Alumni Leadership Council. The council meets annually and is comprised of one representative from each class, one additional representative from classes larger than 300, along with the Alumni Cabinet members and representatives of association programs.
- GOLD Council Representatives (2)
- The Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Council is a group comprised of two representatives from each of the last ten graduating classes. The group is focused on increasing involvement among young alumni and providing a young alumni perspective within the association's programs.
- Reunion Chairperson
- The reunion chairperson is responsible for coordinating the class reunion activities in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Relations. Zero, five, ten and fifteen-year reunions take place during the Fall Homecoming Weekend. Twentieth through sixty-fifth reunions are held during Reunion Weekend in June.
- Anniversary/Reunion Gift Program Chairperson
- The chairperson is responsible for collaborating with the Development Office on the fundraising activities for the class in recognition of a class reunion.
- Prospective Award Recipients
- Members of the board can assist the Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving in identifying classmates who are eligible for nomination for the following Alumni Association awards:
