"Father Scanlon" has been the full-time Catholic Chaplain here at WPI since August of 1961. He was educated at The College of the Holy Cross and at St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD, where he obtained his Licentrate of Sacred Theology in 1957.

He was ordained May 30, 1957.

In addition to his responsibilities here at WPI's Collegiate Religious Center, Father Scanlon has been a trustee of Becker Junior College since 1969. In 1969, he received the For God and Youth Award, a National Catholic Award for Outstanding Service to Young Adults, and in 1984, he earned the WPI Award, given for outstanding service to WPI by a non-alumnus.
