Noncustodial PROFILE
If you indicate on the CSS PROFILE Application that your biological or adoptive parents are separated, divorced or have never been married, then the College Scholarship Service (CSS) will notify you online at the end of the PROFILE registration that WPI requires the Noncustodial PROFILE. The College Board will also send you an e-mail detailing this requirement.
Both the online and email messages will include the following information:
- A link to the NCP web site where the noncustodial parent will be required to login;
- A pre-assigned login and password that must be used by the noncustodial parent the first time he or she accesses the site;
- A message clarifying that the noncustodial parent will be required to change the pre-assigned password to access the application;
- A list of the colleges to which the student is applying that requires the NCP.
The Noncustodial PROFILE must be completed by your noncustodial parent in order to meet application requirements for financial aid. In addition to completing the Noncustodial PROFILE online, your noncustodial parent may be required to forward copies of his/her Federal IRS Tax return and W-2(s) to WPI's Office of Financial Aid if we select your file for verification.
In cases where the Noncustodial PROFILE cannot be forwarded to or completed by the noncustodial parent, it will be necessary for our office to receive some verifying evidence documenting why your noncustodial parent cannot complete this form.
Our office requires a letter from one of the following professionals: secondary school administrator (principal, vice principal, guidance person), attorney, family counselor, clergy person or social worker.
The person writing the letter must include the following information in his/her letter:
1. His/her relationship to the student
2. The length of time he/she has known the student
3. His/her understanding of the lack of relations between the student and noncustodial parent
Letters from family members will not be accepted
Please note that until our office receives the Noncustodial PROFILE from your noncustodial parent or our office has approved a waiver of this form from submitted documentation stating that your noncustodial parent cannot complete this form, our office will not review your application for financial aid eligibility.
