Matching Gifts
Double—even triple—the value of your gift to WPI by taking advantage of your employer’s Matching Gift Program. We make it easy for you.
Get a Matching Gift Form from your Human Resources office. Complete it. Sign it. Send it to Gift Recording at WPI. We’ll do the rest – and give you the credit. Give $50 to the WPI Annual Fund, get credit for $100. Make a $1,000 Reunion gift, get credit for $2,000, which qualifies you for President’s Circle membership.
More than 1,300 companies nationwide sponsor Matching Gift Programs. They match the charitable contributions their employees make to their alma maters and other nonprofit organizations. Some companies match gifts of cash, gifts of securities, and gifts-in-kind on a dollar-for-dollar basis, while others match at ratios as high as four-to-one.
During fiscal year 2006, 580 alumni, friends, and parents at 176 companies gave $378,502 in matched gifts to WPI. Matching gifts help to provide the financial resources needed to maintain and expand WPI's status as a world-class university. If the gift to be matched is a capital or endowed gift, the match could help to secure additional resources in those areas.

5 Reasons to Ask Your Employer to Match Your Gift
- Leverage the impact of your annual gifts to WPI.
- Qualify for giving society membership by making a matching gift.
- Raise an additional $400,000 in scholarship funds for WPI students. Gifts to WPI last year could have increased by more than $400,000, if our more than 5,000 alumni who work for matching gift companies had taken advantage of the benefit.
- Increase unrestricted gifts to WPI. In FY06, about 20% of unrestricted funds came from matching gifts.
- Increase the value of your degree. Alumni giving influences annual "best colleges" rankings.
