Matching Gifts
Your support means so much to WPI, now more than ever. Current WPI students and their families have an increased need for financial aid, and the costs to WPI in providing our students a distinctive, project-based approach to science and engineering education remain a challenge. By utilizing your company's corporate matching gift program you may double or even triple a recent gift to WPI. We urge you to take advantage of this benefit, thus further supporting WPI.
Your company's corporate matching gift program means that your gift makes a greater impact. Simply complete the application for a matching gift and we'll do the rest. Give $50 to the WPI Annual Fund, and get credit for $100. Make a $1,000 class gift in recognition of your Reunion, and get credit for $2,000, which qualifies you for President's Circle membership.
More than 1,300 companies nationwide sponsor corporate matching gift programs. They match the charitable contributions their employees make to their alma maters and other nonprofit organizations. Some companies match gifts of cash, gifts of securities, and gifts-in-kind on a dollar-for-dollar basis, while others match at ratios as high as three-to-one.
During fiscal year 2009, WPI received almost $250,000 in corporate matching gifts. How did these contributions impact WPI? Gifts to the Annual Fund:
- ensured our ability to enroll outstanding students regardless of their financial circumstances in the fall of 2009;
- attracted and retained the finest faculty, like Professor Diran Apelian, new president of The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society;
- built and restored state-of-the-art living and learning facilities on our beautiful campus, such as East Hall, our new "green" residence hall for upperclass students; and
- expanded and sustained a comprehensive range of academic programs.
Matching gifts help to provide the financial resources needed to maintain and expand WPI's status as a world-class university. If the gift to be matched is a capital or endowed gift, the match could help to secure additional resources in those areas.
Your Company's Matching Gift Policy
If you are not sure if your employer has a matching gift program, or you would like more information about your employer's matching gift policy, use this searchable matching gift database to find out.
If you, your spouse or your partner work for a matching gift company, request a matching gift form from your human resources department or download it from the company Web site. Send it completed and signed with your gift. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees or directors.
