Senior Class Gift

Class of 2009 Senior Class Gift presentation at Commencement.  (l-r) Jennifer Himmotu '09, President Dennis D. Berkey, Christina Grant '09, Elizabeth Carey '09, and Nicholas Pelletier '09.

The Senior Class Gift has been a longstanding tradition at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. It represents a kind of philanthropy that exhibits loyalty and devotion to an institution. From the pair of oak doors at the west entrance of Boynton Hall (Class of 1931), to the famed Beech tree (Class of 1943), to the iron gates at the entrance of Alumni Field (Class of 1913), to a scholarship fund for future WPI students (Class of 1920), to the bronze statue of Gompei on the quad (Class of 2009), these senior class gifts will forever be gifts that signify a classes' existence and importance at WPI. The Class of 2010 will continue that tradition in hopes of capturing the spirit of the class and providing an opportunity for the members of the graduating class to say thank you and to help make WPI a better place for current and future students.

This year, the Class of 2010 has not yet chosen their project. You can learn more by contacting the Senior Gift Chairs at seniorclassgiftchairs@wpi.edu.

This year's Senior Class Gift goal is still undecided. Please help us get started by making a gift today!

Why give?

There are many benefits to giving to your senior class gift. First of all, your gift shows your pride in being a member of the WPI community. No matter what you decide to contribute, remember that your participation is what matters most of all, and whatever that contribution might be, it will help create a lasting tribute to your class on campus. Your gift also counts toward the percentage of alumni who make a charitable gift to WPI this year. Alumni giving participation is important because it is one of the variables factored into the national collegiate rankings produced by U.S. News & World Report and other publications.

A higher alumni giving participation rate can help WPI move up in the rankings. When the university is ranked more highly, each degree holds even greater value and prestige.

Suggested Giving Amounts

By making a contribution to your senior class gift, you are showing your pride in being a member of the WPI community. If you make a gift of $100, you will be recognized for giving at the President's Circle level. The President's Circle recognizes and honors alumni, parents, and friends committed to investing in the future of WPI at a leadership level. If you make a gift of $30, you will receive one of the Class of 2010 gifts. You can also give a symbolic gift of $20.10, or even just a few dollars. Remember that your participation is what matters most of all!
