Communicating Effectively
WPI Department of Corporate and Professional Education One-Day Workshop
Being able to communicate effectively is an essential competency for individuals at all levels of an organization. We need to know when, why, how and to whom we should be communicating. We need to both understand and to be understood. Whether you are speaking to one person, participating in a team meeting, or leading a project team--you need to hear what others are saying and you need to present your own ideas clearly and succinctly. In this workshop you will practice and critique yourself in a variety of communication situations. You will practice one-on-one communication situations, participate in team/small group situations, and identify best strategies for delivering departmental and/or organization-wide messages. You will also leave the workshop with a clearer understanding of how to make your point in a meeting and how to actively listen and respond to those with whom you work. The focus of the workshop is on understanding the necessity and the power of effective communication and on giving participants the opportunity to hone their skills as successful communicators.
