Training & Development
Message From The President
I am pleased to join with the Division of Human Resources to introduce Project Synergy, WPI’s new training and professional development program. It is my hope that all staff members will take full advantage of this program, and that it will result in very rewarding career enrichment for everyone. More...
Project Synergy is an exciting new training and professional development program sponsored by the Office of Human Resources. Based on the results of the Training Needs Assessment Survey as well as the Professional Development Plans proposed on this year’s performance appraisals, a comprehensive curriculum of training workshops has been planned for the upcoming academic year. As reflected in the Training Needs Assessment Survey, customer service was identified as one of the most critical training and development needs on the WPI campus.
Noel-Levitz customer service training
WPI has contracted with Noel-Levitz® to conduct campus-wide customer service training that will span the next two academic years. All employees will be asked to register for a series of Noel-Levitz customer service training classes each year. The Noel-Levitz program is unique, because the delivery model is a train-the-trainer approach, so employees will be trained by their own WPI peers. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enhance their customer service skills and work toward building a strong service culture on the WPI campus. To view a schedule of the Noel-Levitz classes, please got to the Connections Calendar. For more information about the Noel-Levitz curriculum, click on the Noel-Levitz Customer Service Training page.
Opportunities for professional development
The majority of the Professional development workshops being offered during the first year of Project Synergy will be conducted by WPI’s Division of Corporate and Professional Education (CPE). All of CPE’s workshops are led by seasoned industry professionals who are highly experienced in their fields. Certain workshops are geared toward managers and supervisors, and others are geared toward all staff members. For a detailed list of the workshops, click on the Employee Professional Development page.
The workshops being offered by CPE can all be applied to one of their many competitive certificate programs. A WPI certificate from the Division of Corporate and Professional Education is well recognized and highly valued in today’s professional market. To learn more about many CPE’s certificate programs go to the Certificate Programs page.
Connecting you to a higher level of professional achievement
In planning your schedule of training and professional development for the upcoming year, be sure to take some time to re-visit the professional development goals you set with your supervisor during the most recent performance appraisal process. The primary goal of Project Synergy is to assist employees in achieving the professional goals they have set for themselves. As you attend workshops, take time to reflect on how the workshop has changed or improved the way you do your job, so you can measure your progress toward meeting your goals with your supervisor during your next performance appraisal.
Tell us what you think!
As always, the Office of Human Resources will be looking to the Community for feedback on all of the workshops offered. Your participation in completing the workshop evaluations that will be available at the end of every session will be greatly appreciated, as it will provide valuable information on the quality of the programs currently being offered and contribute to the planning of future sessions.
