WPI and E-Verify
What is E-Verify:
E-Verify is an Internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees.
Federal contractors and subcontractors will be required to use E-Verify beginning September 8, 2009. Executive Order 12989 mandates the electronic verification of all employees working on any qualifying federal contract (Please contact the Office of Sponsored Programs for qualification status). The amended Executive Order reinforces the policy that the federal government supports a legal workforce.
All employees working on a Federal Contract for WPI must complete a Form I-9 and the Office of Human Resources must enter this information in the E-Verify system.
