H1N1 Flu

Important Announcements: H1N1 Vaccine Update

February 1, 2010:  H1N1 vaccine is currently available at WPI Student Health Services for all members of the WPI community.  Please contact Health Services at 508-831-5520 to schedule an appointment if you are interested in receiving the H1N1 vaccine.

The University had our first confirmed case of the H1N1 virus on October 23, 2009. The afflicted individual, a staff member, has received medical attention and self-isolated in order to heal and to prevent the spread of this virus on campus.

As you know, WPI has been preparing for the onset of a difficult flu season, and our advance planning should help minimize the impact of H1N1 on the campus community.  However, as we go deeper into the flu season, it is important to remember the critical role that each of you play in this effort. The most effective tool for safeguarding our collective health is vigilance in preventing yourself from becoming ill, and taking exceptional care in the event you become ill.

Please review the flu prevention information, care, and vaccination information on this web site to keep yourself informed during this difficult flu season.

We will continue to provide the campus with timely information on the pandemic on this web site and through other communications.

All members of the community are encouraged to visit this web site – which is linked from WPI Home Page, Health Services, Human Resources, and Parents Web Page - for the latest information on H1N1.  You may also contact your health care provider or WPI Health Services with any questions or concerns.  WPI Health Services can be reached at x5520 or healthcenter@wpi.edu.
