As VP for Information Technology since 1998, Tom works with members of WPI's faculty, administration, staff, advisory groups, trustees and alumni to provide vision, leadership, strategic planning, and coordination of all aspects of information technology.

This includes administrative and academic information systems and development, academic computing and software, high performance computing, library and archival services, website development, instructional media and faculty technology development services, A/V and e-classroom support, video production, videoconferencing and web streaming, instructional management systems/portals, intra and internetworking, Internet2, telecommunications, project management, technology support, software training and information literacy.

He is responsible for the budget and management of the daily operations of the Computing and Communications Center (CCC), Gordon Library, Academic Technology Center (ATC), Advanced Distance Learning Network (ADLN) and the Goddard Internet2 GigaPoP.

Tom coordinates all institutional requests for procurements of capital and expensed IT items, and is responsible for the establishment and management of vendor and partner relationships.
