Academics at WPI are organized under the provost, with 14 degree granting academic departments.  Within the provost’s office the Associate Provost for Research ad interim oversees and assists with a wide range of faculty research activities, and the Associate Provost for Corporate and Professional Education leads the development of credit and noncredit programs for industry. The Dean of Undergraduate Studies works with the faculty to enhance WPI’s distinctive educational approach, and the Dean of Graduate Studies performs similar functions for our Master’s and PhD programs.  The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies oversees the implementation of programs that help incoming students make the transition from high school to WPI’s academic community.

The Provost for Academic Affairs is the University's chief academic officer, responsible for the overall quality of teaching and research activity of the University. The Provost has oversight responsibilities for all fourteen academic departments, plus academic support and resource operations.

The Associate Provost for Research is responsible for the overall operations and non-financial services that support the research enterprise at WPI, including the Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Technology Transfer, and the Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center. The APR provides the vision and leadership to enhance faculty research efforts and increase WPI's externally sponsored funding.

As the steward of WPI's intellectual property, the Office of Technology Transfer can evaluate, protect, market, and license the innovation coming from WPI's research.

Dean of Graduate Studies

As Dean of Graduate Studies, Sisson is responsible for the overall operations of the Office of Graduate Studies.  He is the principal advocate for graduate programs across all disciplines.

Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies

As the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Wobbe has oversight over and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the academic experience for the first-year students at WPI. In addition, she is responsible for the Office of Academic Advising.  She also coordinates our Great Problems Seminars (GPS), project-based courses specifically for our first year students.
