On-Campus Living

The Residential Services Staff at WPI welcomes you to our residence life program. We are glad to have you as part of our community. Residential Services is committed to the principle that learning at college takes place both in and out of the classroom. On the basis of this living and learning philosophy, the residence halls are a vital part of the collegiate experience and are at the center of students' day to day life. The Residential Services staff strives to enhance and enrich the students' residential experience by providing services, programming and support. Our residential community is characterized by cooperation, commitment to the welfare of the group, and a sense of responsibility to self and others. The programs and activities in the halls are designed to promote interaction among residents, assist students in meeting each other, offer students an opportunity to learn about a variety of topics, and to help students learn more about themselves and each other. Finally, the residence halls provide an opportunity for exchanging divergent views and beliefs and sharing in the diversity of our campus community. This is our definition of residence hall. We prefer to use this term, not "dormitory", because of the opportunities listed above.

The key element to a successful residential experience is the willingness to get involved. You can have an impact on the direction of your hall and WPI through your participation in activities. We hope that you make the most of this opportunity by accepting the challenge and responsibility of being an active and concerned resident.
