Graduate Tuition Rate Reduction

From: Grant McGimpsey, Associate Provost for Research and Graduate Studies ad interim

Re: Graduate Tuition Rates

Effective today, January 15th, the graduate tuition rate will be reduced by 40% on new proposals submitted. Note that this rate reduction will be effective on proposals for which the full indirect cost recovery rate of 52.2% is charged and for which there is no other cost sharing requested. For the current FY08 rates, this represents a reduction from $1042 per credit hour to $625 per credit hour, i.e., a reduction from the current $18,756 for a full time (18 cr-hr) graduate student to $11,250.  This reduction has been instituted in order to make our research proposals more competitive and bring our RA tuition rate into line with comparable institutions. This tuition reduction will have no impact on the faculty or department research incentives. Please note that this program replaces current tuition cost sharing practices, including dissertation credit cost sharing. If you have questions, please contact me.

With Best Regards,

Grant

**PLEASE NOTE:  We will continue using the rate of $625 per credit through FY 09 (June 30, 2009) with an annual increase of 5% in subsequent years.** (Updated 4/3/08)
