Federal Work Study Community Service
The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) provides eligible undergraduate and graduate students with part-time employment to help meet their financial needs while giving them work experience.
Beginning in the 2000-2001 award year, colleges and universities receiving FWS funds were required to use at least 7% of their total annual FWS allocation to pay the wages of FWS students in community service placements. In other words, the government thinks that community service is important—and so does WPI! As a result, all students who have Work Study are required to perform a minimum of 15 hours of work study at a community agency per year.
Click on this information packet to learn more about how to fulfill the requirement.
If you are interested in performing all of your work study at a community agency, get involved with the CSWS program.
Still have questions or looking for a Community Service placement, stop by the Community Service Center located on the third floor of the Campus Center.
