Can the Office of Women's Programs help me get admitted to WPI?
No, our office cannot help in anyway. However, we are always available to answers you may have about Women's Programs or general questions about WPI. See the Admissions Web site for more information.
Can your office help me get financial aid?
No, our office cannot help you obtain financial aid. Please see the Financial Aid Web site for information. You can also try to obtain external financial aid through one of these sites.
What type of summer programs does your office offer?
We offer summer programs for middle and high school girls and underrepresented minority students (African American, Latino, Native American).
What type of issues does your office deal with?
The Office of Women's Programs provides support and advocacy for women students at WPI through programming, individual relationships, and representing issues of concern for women to the WPI community.  The Office also helps to facilitate a climate that is appreciative of diversity by offering programming, working with individual and groups of students, and by advocating for change when necessary.
Does your office work with underrepresented minority students?
Yes and no. The Office of Diversity offers support programs to underrepresented minority students once they matriculate at WPI. However, diversity issues in general are addressed both by the Office of Diversity as well as the Office of Women's Programs. Also, because current students are the best role models for pre-college students, the Office of Women's Programs works with, and relies on, underrepresented students who wish to participate in pre-college outreach programs.
Does the Office of Women's Programs work with graduate students?
Certainly! Although some specific programs (are targeted at undergraduate students, other porograms (e.g. the Women's Industry Network) actively involve graduate students.  Still other programs, such as the Women's Lunch Series or the Women's History Month activities, are open to all students - male and female, graduate and undergraduate.
What programs does the Office of Women's Programs offer for men?
Programs offered through the Women's Lunch Series and Women's History Month are for all students - male and female, graduate and undergraduate.
What does the Office of Women's Programs hope to accomplish?
By the year 2010, WPI plans to have raised the percentage of women attending WPI to 30% and the percentage of underrepresented minorities to 8%. Additionally, the Office of Women's Programs strives to help WPI create a deserved reputation for respect for diversity.
Where is your office located?
The Office of Women's Programs is located in the new Campus Center, room 230.
Is this a new Office?
Yes. The Office of Women's Programs was created in December 2000. It is the first time that a full-time staff member has been allocated for women's programs.
