Staff

Co-Directors:

Shelley Errington Nicholson is WPI's Director of Women's Programs. Michelle coordinates other programs for middle school and high school girls, including Quest. She is also responsible for women's programming for WPI students.

Chrys Demetry, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, co-founded the program with Prof. Denise Nicoletti in 1997, and co-directed it with her for its first two years. Chrys received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from WPI in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT in 1993. She has been on the faculty at WPI since 1993, involved with teaching and research in materials science and in engineering education.

Sue Sontgerath, WPI Alumnus and Program Manager in the Office of K-12 Outreach has worked for WPI for a number of years in K-12 Outreach.  She serves as Academic Coordinator for Camp Reach and Co-Director.

Workshop leaders:

WPI faculty, staff, and graduate students develop, prepare for, and lead workshop activities. They also determine what, if any, facilitation is needed from other staff members in order to execute the workshop, and prepare the staff members for their roles. In recent years, faculty and staff from Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering have been involved regularly.

Other Staff:

Middle school math and science teachers and female college and high school students are also staff members. All are carefully selected to provide girls with many role models. The supervision exceeds the state regulations for the number of girls attending the program.
