Program Information
Engineering and technology are being used to find solutions to the world's big problems. At Camp Reach, girls who are interested in learning more about careers in engineering and technology will explore some of today's most pressing issues.
Camp Reach is a summer residential program for girls in Massachusetts and Providence RI county, who are entering 7th grade and who are interested in learning more about careers in engineering and technology. The 2008 program will be held July 20 to August 1. Campers are expected to participate for the entire program.
We have worked very hard to make a program this that is fun and educational at the same time. Here are the things we do at Camp Reach:
- Community-oriented design projects in teams. At first the project will be challenging because it will be a new area -- but you will find a solution and see it implemented! Examples might be modification of a bedroom for a disabled child, or the design of a recycling program for a business.
- Field trips, recreational and social activities will help you meet new people, learn new things, and make sure that you're having fun while at it! Trips will be made to the design project customers and to visit engineers in industry.
- Discovery workshops you will experience engineering, math, and science concepts. These are everyday, hands-on activities. Want to see what they might look like? Check out what previous years' workshops were!
- Check out what the camp schedule was like in 2004:
Where will you stay during the program? You'll live with one or two roommates in a WPI residence hall, just like a college student, and you'll eat in our Morgan Commons dining facility.
During the year after the program we'll have follow-up activities, and information sessions for parents and guardians.
