Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day
Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day - IGNITE (Interest Girls Now in Technology and Engineering)
February 18, 2008
Do you know what engineers do? It's more than just building bridges! Engineers use math and science to solve real-world problems:
- A computer science engineer might write a program that helps monitor breathing sounds in infants in order to better understand Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
- A mechanical engineer might design a car that can be driven by a disabled person.
- A biomedical engineer might create an artificial organ that saves lives.
- An environmental engineer might find a process by which to break-down garbage in land fills.
These are just a few examples of how engineers can have a real impact on how people live.
You, too, could be an engineer! Come learn more at Introduce a Girl to Engineering at WPI.
