Mission

The Community Council, constituted of various WPI stakeholders, is charged with facilitating discussions of issues affecting WPI as a community that recognizes and values its diversity. Members of the Community Council are expected to represent their constituencies and to communicate appropriately with them. The Community Council will:

  1. hold public meetings as needed (and at least once each semester) to discuss issues affecting the whole WPI community.
  2. create subcommittees as needed (of Council members or of others) to discuss specific issues, especially those affecting minority constituencies at WPI.
  3. review Strategic Plan, Campus Creed, and Pluralism Advancement Model goals falling within its mission statement.
  4. submit a written report on its work and its recommendations annually to the President of WPI.

Two criteria shall be applied to the selected issues for discussion within the Council:

  1. the issue should be community wide.
  2. the issue should be susceptible of a solution.

The Council will be responsible to report back to the President and his Cabinet, at least annually, on the progress it has made with issues.
