Hong (Susan) Zhou

Hong (Susan) Zhou joined the WPI faculty in 2005 after holding postdoctoral and teaching positions at the University of California, Irvine. She also gained experience as a process engineer at Newport Cor­poration. Zhou’s research involves using engineering approaches to solve tradi­tional problems in biology. In her laboratory in WPI’s Life Sciences and Bio­engineering Center at Gateway Park, her active areas of research currently include micro- and nano-bioelectronics, BioMEMs (microelectromechanical systems), microfluidics, bioseparation, and tissue engineering. She has published her research in more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings and in one book chapter. She holds a BS in chemical engineering from Huazhong University in China, an MS in chemical engineering from Clarkson University, and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of California, Irvine.
