Hong (Susan) Zhou

Hong (Susan) Zhou joined the WPI faculty in 2005 after holding postdoctoral and teaching positions at the University of California, Irvine. She also gained experience as a process engineer at Newport Corporation. Zhou’s research involves using engineering approaches to solve traditional problems in biology. In her laboratory in WPI’s Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park, her active areas of research currently include micro- and nano-bioelectronics, BioMEMs (microelectromechanical systems), microfluidics, bioseparation, and tissue engineering. She has published her research in more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings and in one book chapter. She holds a BS in chemical engineering from Huazhong University in China, an MS in chemical engineering from Clarkson University, and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of California, Irvine.
