Faculty Fellows
The Frontiers in Education Conference is pleased to announce the
New Faculty Fellows Grant. We invite new engineering and computer
science faculty to join us in Boston to explore the revolutions occurring
in engineering and computer science education. FIE 2002 will provide
travel grants for 10 or fewer New Faculty Fellows.
The grant provides
post-conference reimbursement for documented travel expenses. The maximum
size of the grant is $1,000. We expect that new Faculty Fellows will
be passionate about engineering and computer science education. We
also expect that New Faculty Fellows will attend the entire conference,
one workshop, and all special sessions that have been organized
specifically for the fellows.
A peer-reviewed application process will be used
to select the fellows. Engineering and computer science professors from
the assistant, associate, and full professorship levels will review
each application. Eligible candidates must submit their application
packet electronically to the Faculty Fellows Chair.
Eligibility
- Assistant Professors of engineering and computer science must
have no more than two years of employment history at a university.
- Ph.D students defending engineering or computer science dissertations during academic year 2002-2003 are also encouraged to apply.
Application Packet
- Submit an original paper abstract to FIE 2002.
- Base your abstract upon the subject "Leading a Revolution in Engineering and Computer Science Education in the 21st Century."
- Submit abstracts through the normal abstract submission process by the conference
abstract submission due date. This allows your paper to be considered in the
general review as well as the fellowship competition. Be sure to select the
faculty fellowship eligibility option during the submission process.
All topic ideas are acceptable. Some suggested ideas are:
- the changing face of classroom instructional methods,
- the integration of research into the curriculum,
- the use of active and cooperative learning,
- the role of asynchronous learning,
- the challenges of distance education,
- the industry-university partnership
- Full papers and application packets will be requested from
eligible candidates if the abstracts pass the general conference review.
Submission
- Submission deadline is January 14, 2002. This date corresponds to the FIE abstact submission deadline.
