Flight Arrangements from the U.S.
Rosenlund Travel Service Inc. of Worcester, MA, has agreed to manage travel arrangements for the WPI China Forum. Their staff’s personalized service will provide you with the best possible airfare to Hong Kong, the connecting flight to Shanghai, and return flight from Shanghai or Beijing to your home destination.
Rosenlund’s discounted fare (on January 8, 2003), for flights from Boston to Hong Kong; Hong Kong to Shanghai; and a return from Shanghai or Beijing to Boston was $ 1,038. This fare is subject to change and requires a Saturday overnight stay. All fares are non-refundable.
Rosenlund will also arrange your travel to and from other departure locations if needed. Arriving at the Airport and Transportation From Airports to the Hotels
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
HKG has only one passenger terminal which handles all flights. The 1.27 km long terminal is one of the world's largest enclosed spaces. Despite its size passengers may move around with a fair amount of speed. An internal shuttle train runs between the East Hall and the West Hall. Arriving passengers need not change levels to exit the building; departing passengers need to change levels only once to board their plane.
Transportation from Hong Kong Airport to the Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong
The Airport Express is a fast and convenient railway service that runs between the airport and Hong Kong island. The train station is in the Ground Transportation Centre. Trains run between 6:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., at 10-minute intervals. Travel time to or from downtown Hong Kong is 23 minutes; a check in service for air passengers operates at Hong Kong and Kowloon stations; from these two stations bus shuttles run to most major hotels. The cost is approximately US$11.50.
Taxi stands are located beside the Ground Transportation Centre opposite the bus station. Different color taxis serve different destinations. Red (urban) taxis may take passengers anywhere in Hong Kong, including the airport. Taxis are numerous and readily available, and fares are low compared with those in most cities. Expect to pay HK$250/US$32 for a trip to the hotel. Many drivers speak some English but it is wise to have your destination written in Chinese characters.

Shanghai - Pudong International Airport (PVG)
Arriving passengers can directly enter the waiting corridor on the second floor and take the escalator to the luggage pickup area on the first floor. Departing the terminal building, passengers can take taxis, public buses or the airport bus to the downtown area.
Transportation from Shanghai-Pudong Airport to the Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai
Taxis are the best option to and from the airport. It is about 19 miles from the airport to the hotel, and the ride should cost US$15. The hotel recommends that passengers make sure that the drivers use the meters. Many drivers speak some English but it is wise to have your destination written in Chinese characters.

Hotel Accommodation Information
Special discounted rates have been arranged for Forum participants at the Shangri-La Hotels in Hong Kong and Shanghai. All WPI Alumni Forum meetings will take place at these hotels. Guests should make their own hotel reservations for the Forum using the two hotel reservation forms found with the conference registration.
