CLUB CORNER

Newman Club

Here we are again. This coming Thursday night we are going to Wright's Chicken Farm in RI. We are leaving the Religious Center at 6:00 PM and we should be back by 10:00 PM at the latest. Unfortunately, we have a full bus and so we cannot add anyone at this late date.

Our cookout and video night last Friday was a great success and a great time was had by all. We found out that Erin and Nick are great cooks. Peter claims he is saving his expertise of cooking until we have our first video and pasta night.

Our Faith and Discussions groups met last week. The weekly one, which is doing the Exercises of St. Ignatius, meets on Monday nights at the Religious Center while the Monthly Discussions Group meets once a month on a Wednesday night. The latter group discusses current events or topics. More information may be gotten concerning the groups by contacting Jennifer Cooper at jcooper@wpi.edu.

We are very proud to hear that Mr. Francis Harney, who is a trustee emeritus here at WPI, will be honored at the Worcester Diocesan Ministry Convention, Friday night, Sept. 29th at the Worcester Centrum. Mr. Harney was a president of our club in the late 1930s and one of the people that helped Bishop John Wright in founding the Diocese of Worcester in 1950. Since graduation from WPI in 1937 he has been an active member of

the WPI community. He is being honored for his involvement in the diocesan affairs as well as his involvement at WPI and an advocate of education in city.

Natalie Mello and Paul Davis from the Interdisciplinary and Global Studies Division (IGSD) came to speak about this year's Global Perspectives Program, which kicks off with the Global Opportunities Fair on September 26.

SGA would like to welcome the 5 newly appointed senators to the Senate. There are still a couple of positions open, so if you would like to run, please stop by the SGA office and pick up an application. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, September 19 at 6 p.m. in the Lower Wedge. Hope to see you all there!

BiLaGa

BiLaGa meets every Thursday at 8:15PM in the Wedge. This Tuesday we will hold a social lunch meeting in Gompei's from 11:30AM-1:00PM. We will continue to look forward to October 11th, National Coming Out Day, and our open meeting.

We would like to thank Safe Homes of Central Massachusetts for holding an informational session at our last meeting. Safe Homes offers various programs for GLBTQ youth such as foster care, mentoring, and a drop-in activities center. We are planning to visit Safe Homes' Thursday night Drop-in Center in the near future. For more information, visit http://www.Safehomesma.org or email bilaga@wpi.edu.
