Two days ago when I placed an order for mozzarella sticks, I was stiffed one stick in my order. The woman behind the counter kindly informed me that if I remind her the next time, that I could have an extra stick in that order. There is only one problem, I don't want it next time, I want it now, or I wouldn't have ordered mozzarella sticks.
I also have noticed that you no longer receive chips or pretzels when you order a sandwich. Is it so expensive that Gompei's cannot offer chips or pretzels with a three or four dollar sandwich? I don't think so.
There is also a dramatic reduction in the drinks available in the coolers. What happened to the Arizona teas and Nantucket juice drinks, and a large soda selection? I went in looking for an orange cream soda, and I walked out with a Fresca.
This is the second year we have seen things disappear from Gompei's. Last year we witnessed as the ice cream and many of the dessert items were removed from the coolers.
It seems that Chartwells is less interested in running Gompei's as a restaurant, and is more willing to think of it as a terminated expense. The end of Gompei's may be close at hand, but as of now the doors are still open, so a decent amount of service and availability would be appreciated.
