The WPI Women's Soccer team lost to Gordon College on last Tuesday night at Alumni Field in a very close game. The game remained at 0-0 for through full regular time play, and the WPI Engineers looked and played strong. It was not until the 95 minute mark that Gordon's Bess Watson, a sophomore forward from Woodstock, VT, scored their one and only goal in overtime to give them the victory. Our Engineers played tough though, with fifteen shots on goal to Gordon's ten. Gordon seemed to have the better first half, but WPI definitely dominated the second. Watson was hanging around from about 30 yards out when she stole the ball from WPI sweeper, who, up to that point had played a stellar game. Watson went in all alone from straight on, and blasted one to the right of WPI senior goalkeeper Brooke LeClair (Acton, MA), who had no chance. LeClair was recorded at nine saves for this game, while Gordon's Sara Baker was recorded with twelve saves. With the win, Gordon is now 6-1 overall. WPI, meanwhile falls to 3-2-1. The Engineers are 0-2-1 once a game gets into overtime this season. WPI host Springfield college this Tuesday night, September 26th at 7pm on Alumni Field, this will be there second Conference game of the season. Come out and show your support!!
