Choral groups to travel abroad

Chad Pytel - Class of '01

The WPI Men's Glee Club, with the Concert Choir, Alden Voices, and the Clark University Concert Choir have announced their spring break 2001 concert tour of the Republic of Ireland.

This tour is an exciting expansion on previous international tours, as it includes all three of WPI's major choral groups. Also joining WPI will be the Clark University Concert Choir. While the Glee Club has traveled with other universities, such as Regis College and Wells College, this tour will mark the first time that multiple WPI choral groups will join each other on tour. All the groups are looking forward to this exciting opportunity.

While in Ireland, the groups will be performing a large choral/orchestral work of Arthur Honnegger, a drama/oretoreo - "King David". The tour, arranged by Tour Resource Consultants of Philidelphia, PA, will visit the cities of Galway, Bunratty, Killarny, Carrick On Suir, and Dublin, with concerts tentatively planned at St. Mary's Cathedral (Church of Ireland), the University of Limerick, Galway Cathedral, and Christchurch Cathedral. The scenery of Ireland is said to be some of the most beautiful in the world, often used in the filming of movies, and the pubs are legendary.

The groups are looking for anyone interested in joining them on tour, including faculty, staff, alumni, family, and friends. If you are interested in more information, please email gleeclub@wpi.edu.
