Club Corner

Newman Club

Well, from our reports at our Executive Committee Meeting, we are having a great term A. Some of our events went over so well we have decided to repeat them in Term B or C. Last Friday's Video and Pasta night had a record crowd. We were especially pleased to see that a good number of non-members felt free to join us for the event.

Plans for Term B include sponsoring a Halloween reverse treat or trick night for the children at Youville House plus joining Residential Life's Tech and Treat later in the evening. Video and Pasta night will be held on Friday night, November 10th and a return trip to Wright's Chicken Farm on Friday, December 1. We are starting at noon, Friday the 13th, a grad seminar for our graduate members. Another breakfast will be held after Mass on Sunday, December 3rd. Plans are being made for Christmas Caroling, Christmas Mass and Social. Plus we are continuing Father 's supper for our new members. So we are going to have a full schedule of events during Term B including Pasta - Tutor night during exam week.

Our Faith and Discussion group continues to meet every Monday night at 8:30 in the Religious center. Please feel free to join any of our events.

SGA

The SGA has been very busy in the last couple weeks. We are pleased to announce that next year's academic schedule has been changed to accommodate student concerns regarding breaks. Next year there will be no classes on the day before Thanksgiving. SGA plans to meet with the administration about making other changes to the schedule. Also, last week SGA in conjunction with the Legal and Social Issues Group, ran a voter registration drive. It was a huge success and thank you to all who registered to vote.

The next SGA meeting will be held on October 10 at 6 p.m. in the Lower Wedge. The Senate will be having a discussion on the Academic Honor Code. All who are interested in this topic are invited to attend!

American Nuclear Society

Congratulations to our new elected officials! At our first meeting of the year on October 4, Matt Stanley ('02) was elected President of the WPI Chapter of the American Nuclear Society. John Rainey ('01) was elected by the Society to be the Vice-President while Danielle Barber ('01) was chosen to hold the combined Secretary/Treasurer position.

The Society has big plans and is excited to begin a new year at WPI. Our next meeting will be held during the first week of B- term - further details will be announced. During this meeting, we will be touring the Nuclear Reactor Facility and performing some exciting experiments - not to mention the FREE food! Everyone on campus is invited!!!

BiLaGa

October 11th is National Coming Out Day and BiLaGA will be celebrating with an open meeting in the Lower Wedge from 7PM until late. Free pizza, movies, and socializing will be taking place. Everyone is welcome to stop by and hang out. If you can't come to the open meeting, but want to show you're support, stop by our table in the wedge during the day and pick up a rainbow ribbon. (Note: Wearing the ribbon does not necessarily imply that you are gay.) October 14th is Safehomes' Out All Night event to increase awareness of the fact that there are many homeless kids that need our help. If you want to participate in this fun and important event, email us at bilaga@wpi.edu.

SMAS

This weekend, SMAS had its first movie night and its first Purgatory Chasm trip. Upcoming: The Black and White Masquerade Ball is October 14th. The next official club trip to King Richard's Faire will be October 21st; email dryad@wpi.edu for info. Meetings are 7:00 Tuesday nights in Founders basement

SAS

This week is a big one for SAS! Yesterday we put together and distributed this fall's survival kits for the freshman, a success as always. Tomorrow will be our last meeting of the term, so it will NOT be held in the usual location of Forkey. Rather we will be meeting in the Higgins House library, at 5pm Wednesday. Just come in the front door and head to the right. After the usual meeting business, we will be heading to Morgan dining area to hand out Rivalry T-Shirts. This year instead of having shirts at each event, we are giving shirts based on class at the beginning of the year, and then, on the date of the event you wear you shirt to show class spirit. So be sure to get one now, supplies are limited!! Also, Be sure to wear your rugbies tomorrow if you have them. Hope to see everyone at Higgins House!
