If you're already tired of the Presidential debates that feature only Bush and Gore with an entertainment value that approaches watching paint dry, and yet still want to be informed at the ballot box, then fret no more. On Thursday, October 12, the Legal and Social Issues Group will sponsor a Mock Presidential Debate in Kinnicutt Hall at 7pm. The debate will feature all five of the major Presidential candidates-Al Gore, George W. Bush, Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan, and Harry Browne.

WPI students will portray each of these Presidential roles. Ernie DiMicco will portray Al Gore. George W. Bush will be portrayed by Daniel Lorente. Matt LeClair will portray Ralph Nader. Pat Buchanan will be portrayed by Catherine Raposa. Finally, Alex Knapp will portray Libertarian candidate Harry Browne. The debate will be co-moderated by GAEA President Julie Cerqueira and Benjamin Carl, President of the Legal and Social Issues Group.

The debate will be divided into two formats. The first part will be a question and answer session in which all candidates will answer questions posed by the moderators. For the second part, the candidates will have the opportunity to question each other. Because of the format, and the inclusion of third party candidates, WPI students can look forward to a lively, spirited exchange that will delve into issues all across the political spectrum.
