Every year at Homecoming celebrations, Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Skull Honor Society recognizes outstanding students of the sophomore class. This year's Skull Trophy for Outstanding Achievement is shared by two women: Nina Simon of Studio City, California and Naomi Boatright of Coos Bay, Oregon.

The Skull Trophy is given to freshman students who have done the most for their class and for WPI. It recognizes outstanding performance in extracurricular and academic activities and is awarded at the beginning of the recipient's sophomore year.

Simon, an electrical engineering major, helps her fellow students in math by being a peer learning assistant for differential equations, she has also created the Live Poets Society, a forum to help students express themselves. She is a member of SOMA, the Ultimate Frisbee team, and the water polo team. She is also the co-service vice president for APO. She is the recipient of Blanche Nelson award 2000.

The second co-recipient, Boatright, works for the improvement of the campus through her efforts in the student alumni society, and Alpha Phi Omega the service fraternity. She is a biotechnology major and also participates in Women's Rugby, Christian Bible Fellowship, in addition to playing the clarinet in the band.
