The Freedom Football Conference, which consists of seven schools, came out with their All-Star team roster this past Tuesday, November 14th. Our Engineers had two athletes named to the first team, and eight outstanding players name to the second team. On first team offense, Senior Nick Fluet (Leominster, MA) made the roster for number one running back with an average of 96.8 yards per game. The second was Junior Mark Stanton (Quincy, MA), for number one tight end in the conference with an average of 33.8 yards per game. WPI players dominated the second all-star team. On offense, Senior Chris Tremblay (N.Reading, MA) made the offensive line roster, and on the defensive side we had seven outstanding players. Jerome Hunter (Wayland,MA) made number one defensive end, Jeff Martin (Fairhaven, MA) made number one safety, and Mike DiCaprio (Schenectady, NY) was number one cornerback in the conference. Finally, WPI took every spot to be awarded on the second team specialists roster, number one punter goes to Freshman Ben Achin (N. Attleboro, MA), number one punt returner and kick returner goes to Eric Thiboutot (Nashua, NH), and the number one placekicker was awarded to Josh Morrison (Langdon, NH). WPI was the number two team in the conference, behind Springfield College, to have the most players recognized on the all-conference team. Congratulations goes out to the entire Football team.

Besides the All-Conference team stars, we have more recognition to give to the Worcester Area Football Association All-Star teams. The FFC All-Star team is chosen by the coaches of each team, and the Worcester Area All-Stars are chosen by the Sports Information Directors of each school. This all-star team is selected from six local colleges, Assumption, Worcester State College, Nichols College, Fitchburg State College, College of Holy Cross (which is Division I, compared to us at Division III), and of course WPI. On the offensive team, Nick Fluet was recognized as number one for running backs and Eric Thiboutot was number two. Mark Stanton was voted number one tight end and Senior Marc St. Jean (Lewiston, ME) was number two in tackles. Chris Tremblay won second place for guards, and Josh Morrison also received second for placekickers. Eric Thiboutot represents again with the number one slot for kickoff return specialist and punt return specialist. On the defensive team Jerome Hunter was rewarded number two for defensive end in the area, and Jeff Martin finished as number one for defensive backs. Once again, a great job representing WPI, and congrats, good luck next year guys.
