Last Saturday, November 11th, WPI hosted its first swim meet of the season at Clark University. This was a tri-meet versus Babson College and Wheaton College; both the men's and women's teams competed from all three schools. The women's team came up with a score of 26 versus Babson's 112, and WPI women earned a score of 40 versus Wheaton's 99.

Freshman Kate Johnson (Lexington, MA) won the 50 backstroke versus both Babson and Wheaton with a time of 0:31:88 and she also won the 100 backstroke versus Wheaton with a time of 1:10:12. Sophomore Liz Mills also performed well, with a first place win against Wheaton in the 50 and 100 butterfly. For the fifty she had a time of 0:30:12, and in the one hundred she had a time of 1:08:77. The women's team will compete again on Saturday, November 18th at Western New England College, good luck ladies.

The Men's team had an eventful day as well, Babson only defeated them by a slim score of 80 to 58, and WPI was victorious against Wheaton with a score of 85 to 54. Senior Jason Walonoski (Winsted, CT) had a day of achievements, he won first place for the 50 and 100 breast stroke, against both teams, his times were 0:29:07, and 1:05:52. Freshman, Ryan Drasher (Dover, NH) took first place for the 100 backstroke (00:58:36) and the 100 I.M. (1:00:55), also against both teams. Joe Ziolkowski (Blue Springs, MO) a Senior diver, won first place on the one meter and three meter diving boards, totaling a score of 157.00 on the one meter and 161.80 on the three meter boards. The men's 200 meter freestyle relay team, Andy Kern (Ellensburg, WA), Jason Walonoski, Chris Gallagher (Westwood, MA), and Matt McCue (Waterford, CT), won first place against both Babson and Wheaton with a time of 1:35:01. Against Wheaton, sophomore Chris Gallagher won the 200 freestyle (2:02:32), and freshman Scot Junkin won the 50 backstroke (0:28:12). This was a good meet overall for both teams, especially considering it was the first of the season. Nice job to everyone, keep it up.
