E-Anime: Anime lovers can find great anime on the World Wide Web

Anime fans have always been an interesting cross-section of the general population, and since the broadening of the Internet; anime fans have always been online in numbers. There are a lot of interesting people out there on the Internet who love anime, and so there are a lot of interesting sites out there to visit.

Anime Web Turnpike- www.anipike.com - The Anipike has seemingly been around forever, with a huge collection of sites on specific series or different categories in general. If you're looking for something and don't know where to start, this can usually be a good place.

Anime on DVD- www.animeondvd.com- The premier site for the latest accurate and up-to-date information on anime coming out on DVD. DVD is the new big format for anime, and if you have any intention of keeping up with the releases, I suggest book marking this site.

Anime News Service- www.animenewsservice.com- a conglomeration of news from all over the anime world. If you want to stay on top of what's happening, check it out.

Seiyuu Database- www.tcp.com/doi/seiyuu- a great place to look for information on the people who played the Japanese voices of your favorite anime.

Fansubs.net- www.fansubs.net- A good, if not frequently updated, resource for information on fansubs. Check it out to find out what fansubbing is all about.

#wpi-anime - www.wpi.edu/~jcollins/wpi-anime - A group of us from WPI started an IRC (www.irchelp.org) channel on DALnet (www.dal.net) to just talk about anime and anything else. Feel free to drop by anytime.

If you're interested in buying anime online, some good places to look are Suncoast.com, Animenation (www.animenation.com), DVDPlanet (www.dvdplanet.com), buy.com, and express.com. For Japanese anime, try CD Japan (www.cdjapan.co.jp) or Animaxis (www.animaxis.com).

Of course there are tons of other sites out there, as the anime community is rapidly growing, but this list should help you get started if you're into anime or just wanting to find out more about it. Next time: A look at anime as we enter 2001
