Goat's Head Up For Grabs at the Holiday Extravaganza

On December 4th the campus celebrated Founders' Day. As part of the celebration, the freshmen and sophomores competed in the second event of the Goat's Head Rivalry and the Freshmen won.

Not only is this day the date of the second rivalry event, but is also the second day that the Goat's Head must be shown by whichever class possesses it. Earlier in the day, before the sophomores had time to show the goat, the freshmen discovered where it was hidden and stole it. Shortly after, they consulted a member of the goat's head committee to see if they had to show the goat. They were told that they should try to show it , but if they couldn't then showing it the next day would be fine.

The freshmen had all intentions of showing the goat on Founders' Day, but in the end, they did not. This gave no other class the chance to steal it.

The Goat's Head Committee met on Wednesday, December 6th to discuss the events surrounding the rivalry that took place on Founders' Day. It was decided that the freshmen did successfully steal the goat from the sophomores, and will get their year engraved in the trophy.

Secondly, the freshmen cannot be held at fault for breaking the rules about showing the goat, because they did ask for guidance from a member of the committee. This has been amended, and in the future if the whole committee is not present to make a decision, the rules of the rivalry will prevail and must be followed.

Third, it was decided that in order to be fair to all classes, the goat will be put back into play next Wednesday at the Holiday Extravaganza sponsored by SGA(the next campus wide event). The class winning the goat on this night will not get their year engraved on the trophy because they did not steal it, but they will get to have the goat.

There will be a four-way rivalry event at 7:00 in Alden Hall as part of the extravaganza. The winning class will win the right to possess the goat, and the responsibility to make sure that it gets shown at events throughout the year.
