At our Executive Board Meeting this past Wednesday night we approved the nominations of various officers for next year. Our election of officers will take place on Sunday, Feb 28th, and installation of them will take place on Sunday, April 29th. We also agreed to take part in Quadfest by sponsoring St. Patrick's Pub. We will leave it to your imagination to figure out that one. Also on Sunday, April 22nd after Mass we will have a BBQ for our members and their guests. We set March 18th as the date for our monthly Sunday breakfast. March 30th will be the day of our annual Lenten retreat.
Jason Field gave out the details for our Appalachia in Worcester Day. Information on the day and how one might participate is contained elsewhere in this edition of Tech News. We also agreed to sponsor next year a speaker on the Holocaust. We are hoping that other campus groups will join us in that endeavor.
Our Faith and Discussion group continues to meet every Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. in the Religious Center. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day party and now we prepare for term exams and the Holy Season of Lent.

"Like the absurdist artists and writers of his day, he [Eugene Rose, later Fr. Seraphim] had experimented with insanity, breaking down logical thought processes as a way of "breaking over to the other side." He read the words of the mad "prophet" of Nihilism, Friedrich Nietzsche, until those words resonated in his soul with an electric, infernal power. Through all these means he was seeking to attain to Truth or Reality; but they all resulted in failure. He was reduced to such a state of despair that he would later say, "I was in Hell." He would get drunk, and would grapple with the God Whom he had claimed was dead, pounding on the floor and screaming at Him to leave him alone. Once while intoxicated, he wrote, "I am sick, as all men are sick who are absent from the love of God." - From "Nihilism"
Over the next several weeks we will be reading from "Nihilism: The Root of the Revolution of the Modern Age," by Eugene Rose. Readings will be followed by discussion and philosophical musings. Come prepared to challenge (or defend) the philosophical and spiritual underpinnings of modernity. This week's meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Higgins House suite #1. We will also begin attending the Lenten lecture series at St. Spyridon's Church on Thursday. For more info, email seraphim@wpi.edu.

"Who is God?" Many different answers have been proposed to this question throughout history, and these are discussed endlessly by philosophers. To know the correct answer, however, we must go to the Bible, the word of God, in which God has revealed his character and attributes to us. Vine's Dictionary describes what we can learn about God from the Bible like this: "The everlasting, invisible, immutable, and one true God dwells in unapproachable light and splendor. Honor, glory, majesty, and power are due to his name. He is magnified and highly exalted, and his manifold wisdom is unsearchable. He is life and bestows life. His character and will are perfect, complete, and divine. He is gracious, kind, merciful, compassionate, and completely trustworthy. He shows his love and faithfulness to all. He is not forgetful or slack, and knows all things. His rule is righteous and just. His burning anger is provoked because he is zealous for his holiness."
