Penguins pummel Worcester IceCats

Toby Petersen had two goals and an assist and goalie Rich Parent stopped all 30 shots he faced to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 7-0 triumph over the Worcester Ice Cats on Wednesday night.

Michal Rozsival, Trent Cull, Milan Kraft, Shaun Peet and Dennis Bonvie also scored for the Penguins.

The turning point of the game came late in the second period. Worcester's Ed Campbell was assessed a high-sticking major penalty and the Penguins struck twice on the ensuing five-minute power play to extend their lead to 3-0.

Petersen set up Cull's slap-shot goal at 16:32, then scored his first of the game just 1:14 later.

The Penguins then erupted for four goals in the third period to hand the league-leading Ice Cats their worst loss of the season.

Worcester goalie Dwayne Roloson stopped 22 of 26 shots before leaving early in the third period with an injury.
