SGA

Curious about WPI's network? Frustrated with all the network downtime? Wondering what actually happens in the basement of Fuller? Now you can find out! There will be a special meeting on Tuesday, April 10, 6p.m. in the Odeum (A). We will be having a special guest speaker at this meeting: the one and only Sean O'Connor, director of NetOps. Sean will talk about the network on-campus and future upgrades to the technology at WPI. After that he will answer any and all questions the audience may have. We encourage anyone with concerns or curiosity about the network on campus to come and join us for an informative discussion. Again, any and all students, faculty and staff are welcome and encouraged to come to this forum. See you there!

Zeta Psi Fraternity

The Pi Tau Chapter of the Zeta Psi fraternity has just recently initiated 17 new brothers. The brothers of Pi Tau hold great expectations for the newly initiated brothers. They bring diversity and many benefits to the house. The newly initiated brothers are the future of the Pi Tau Chapter and the Brotherhood is positive they will carry on the strong traditions Pi Tau holds. Furthermore, these new brothers will be a great asset to the house and the WPI campus.

In other news the 25 Anniversary of the Pi Tau Chapter is on April 30 of this year. Pi Tau is holding a 25 Anniversary Formal on April 28, which will be held at the Crown Royal Plaza. This anniversary is a great achievement for the house and we are looking forward to many more.

Student Athlete Council

The Student Athlete Council(SAC) is a new group on campus formed at the beginning of D term by the Department of Physical Education and Athletics in conjunction with the NCAA. It is the intention of SAC to provide a voice for WPI's student athletes. SAC also hopes to promote WPI athletics and to develop a positive perception on campus and in the greater Worcester community. This Council has one representative (sophomore or junior) from each varsity sport here at WPI in an effort to reach all areas of varsity athletics. Cherise Galasso and Ed Zaloom, both Assistant Directors of Athletics, chair the Council. Currently this spring, SAC is working on increasing fan support for WPI home athletic contests. You may notice more promotional flyers on campus for athletic events, as well as the use of the SoComm sandwich board and more information in Tech News. This is only a small start in a short amount of time before the term ends. The Student Athlete Council looks forward to its growth next year and expects to hold a number of events such as, a Kickoff Spirit Event during the Fall seasons, Midnight Madness, Team Color Days, Student-Athlete Community Service Day,..etc. We hope you will join us in supporting WPI athletics!

GAEA

GAEA is still working with the fraternities to help develop recycling programs. We have given surveys to each fraternity to identify their needs and current situation, and we will work individually with the fraternities after assessing their needs. We also discussed having a recycling week around Earth Day with environmental speakers and parties with a recycling-based theme.

Elm Park Elementary is interested in having GAEA work with students to plant trees. We are hoping to work with a class of third-graders, and we could talk with the class about trees and then go out with them to do the planting.

We may organize another trip to Heifer Farm on the 21st. Email Julie Cerqueira (geleias@wpi.edu) if you would like to go and do some farm work. Julie is also in the process of counting the results from a recycling survey that the SGA passed out.
