"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8 NIV) I have often wondered what the Lord requires of me, what He wants me to do. This verse has helped me in these times. As the new year gets under way, I want to challenge you to see what it is that God is showing you. It is there in the Bible. God's word to us. The Bible is filled with promises that God has given us. Are you ready to claim those promises as your own? Seek the Lord and He will show Himself to you.
Well, for everyone who doesn't know who we are, this is the International Student Club and we are a club that looks to increase international awareness on campus. We are also here to provide a comfortable home for all the international students on campus by dealing with specific issues. We are also responsible for all the fun-filled activities that happen all year around.
Enough said! Firstly, I want to inform all of you out there that the meeting times have been changed. We are now meeting at 4:30 at Morgan B every other Wednesday starting from Jan.18. I encourage all new students (including transfers and graduates) to show up and participate in this years series of events. We are all looking forward to new faces as well as old and to start the new year with a BANG!
If you are not able to attend, than keep reading Newspeak to keep updated. We will be here week after week! Well then, that's all time allows for now, and we'll continue at the meeting this Wednesday....see you all there!
Only three more weeks until we old execs bow out... Nominations will be at NEXT week's meeting, 4:30PM in AK232. That means that, if you want to run for office, you'd better tell people so you get nominated.
Not much else to say right now, except that we need good, dedicated officers...
Welcome back pain worshipers! It's C term again-- the only term when classrooms are equipped with air sickness bags! What's the best thing about C term, you ask? Why, D term...
The set construction for Fahrenheit 451 will require the use of large amounts of news-print, so it would be a great help if everyone saved any news-print that they come in contact with for this purpose. Think of it as an alternate method of recycling. All news-print will be recycled after it has been used. Collection will take place every week at the Masque meeting.
FEBRUARY FIRST is the deadline for submissions to the NEW VOICES One-Three (13) Play Festival. New Voices week long theatrical festival presented by the WPI community to the WPI community for FREE will take place the week of April 17, 1995.
Submissions can be in any format, but must be submitted in duplicate: one copy with all of your pertinent information on it (name, address, e-mail, phone number) and the second copy with no information on it at all. They must be dropped off to Salisbury Labs Room 1, by no later than 5pm Wednesday February 1st. Submit early and often.
All of the plays are read and discussed by a team of dramaturgs who then choose the festival. The dramaturgs do not know the author of the proposals and select entries on merit of the individuals pieces.
For more information contact Prof. Susan Vick in the Humanities and Arts Department Salisbury Labs Room 19, 831-5946, or e-mail masque@wpi.edu.edu.
There will be a Masque meeting this Friday at 4:30 in the green room. For you short of memory people, that is the area behind the stage in Alden Hall cordoned off with two doors, a drop ceiling, and a whole bunch of drywall.
10. Matt got a job (free beer for us)! 9. Keith got a hair cut (he he he). 8. Burby got shorter. 7. Rousseau got a limp - again. 6. Reynolds got a clue - not. 5. Ian got lucky. 4. That just about covers it. Be sure to look for future events, like the Freshman Questionnaire, the Assassination Game, our first ski trip, and last but definitely not least AcapellaFest '95. Cantate Laudamus.

Yes, it's time for yet another term...
It's C Term -- The Term That Really Rocks
WPISFS is still intact -- we didn't all spontaneously combust (hundreds of people spontaneously combust every year - you just don't hear about it). However, two of our officers, Ben (da prez) and Mikey (da librarian) get the 'big ouchie' award for kissing an 18-wheeler head-on in a little teeny car. Ow. So, let's everyone wish them a speedy recovery...
In other news... We will still be having meetings, Wednesday nights, Olin Hall 218, 7:00 PM... Providing we've procured the room for this semester...
That's about it. I want to see each and every five of you at the meeting on Wednesday!
And remember, Johnny says: BARBED WIRE??? I DON'T CARE!!
With a new guard comes a renewal of goals. SocComm is seeking to broaden, strengthen, and more sharply define its membership. Programming committees will be implementing regular meetings. Also, watch for the soon-to-be survey asking for your opinion of SocComm.
Catch the sneak preview of Before Sunrise on the 24th of January. You'll have to pick up a ticket in the SocComm office. As soon as schedules are solidified, meeting times and places will appear in this space. Long live Al.
So, what's up? Well, practices will be every Monday and Thursday evenings, starting between 7:30 and 8, same as usual. This past Thursday we had a record breaking attendance at practice, and life was good. If we can get that kind of turnout at every practice, life will be better.
Upcoming business: The officers will have "Officer Meetings" at least once a month, maybe twice a month. Any concerns you may have about the club can be brought to one of the officers, who will then be honor bound to bring it up at our meeting. During the first meeting of the term (yesterday, Monday) we will have discussed the possibility of a weapons making session sometime in the near future, so if you want or need new weapons, now's yer chance! We will also have a garb making night sometime in February, whenever Lady Cassa has the time. She has a lot of feasting to prepare this term. We will try to give you more notice so you can buy fabric.
Upcoming events will also be posted here, whenever I actually find out about them.
Remember! Come to practice and beat on each other with foam swords! It's fun, really!
