Interested in Quadfest?

by Rich Santora - Chairman, Student Activities Executive Council (SAEC)
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the SAEC, it is an organization that was created for two purposes. One purpose of the organization is to maintain open lines of communication between many of the student organizations that implement social programs throughout the year. The other purpose, which is germane to this article, is that we attempt to coordinate large scale events that involve many organizations. A previous example is Halloween Weekend, which took place in B term of this year. Currently the SAEC is composed predominantly of Class III student organizations.

Quadfest has proven, in its two years existence, to be the largest and most successful of the numerous events that take place on campus each year. This has been made possible by the extreme generosity of the entire WPI community. This generosity has taken on forms such as monetary donations and personpower. It is my hope that the community wishes to continue this tradition of teamwork. It has proven to be an invaluable enhancement to the quality of student life at WPI.

I would like the SAEC to serve as a base for the new Quadfest Committee. I encourage every student organization to begin thinking of ways to make this year's Quadfest the best one yet. I believe that the time has come to start formalizing some of the ideas I have heard floating around campus regarding what people would like to see at Quadfest. I ask that if you are interested in joining the Quadfest Committee, let us know. Please send your responses to either myself (santora@wpi) or better yet, just mail quadfest@wpi. The SAEC will compile the responses and attempt to set up a convenient meeting time. I plan to call the first meeting sometime during the week of February 20th. After all, we do have a lot of work to do, but I promise you it will be worth it.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
