Members of the WPI community are invited to select friends or colleagues to be jailed (with their permission) and collect funds to pay for the jailing. On February 22, a volunteer sheriff will escort each of the jailbirds to the Wedge, where they will be held until friends and co-worker contribute matching funds to the MDA to bail them out. Passerbys are encouraged to help with the bail. At the same time, people may also donate more money to keep people in jail longer. "The event is a lot of fun for everyone and is our fraternity's major fund-raiser," says David Smiley '98. "Last year we raised $1,000 for the MDA."
