SGA Minutes for the meeting of February 14, 1995

Meeting held in Atwater Kent 219
I. Meeting called to order at 6:00 pm.
II. Attendance:
Executive Board: Greg Findlen, Pres.; Fiona Abrams, Vice Pres.; Rachel Butland, Sect.; Don Socha, Treas.
Senate: Heather Cleary, Cathy Connelly, Ryan Daly, Nat Fairbanks, Shannon Finley, Beth Gentry, Lee Guthrie, Marni Hall, Ed Hallissey, Rebecca Hoffman, Seth Kintigh, Lucie Lasovsky, Jason Macierowski, Jason Mickey, Amy Plack, Amy Sinyei, Greg Snow, Jeff Spaleta, Kristen Stagg, Cara Valliere, Cindy Vollaro, Joe Waln.
Absent: Deb Foley (excused), John Grossi, Dave Smith (excused), Tim Tully (excused), Chizzy Uchendu (excused), Shelby Walker (excused).
Parliamentarian: Jason Averill
III. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the meeting held February 7, 1995 were approved with no amendments.
IV. President's Report: President Findlen reported that the trustees meeting are coming up this weekend. To be discussed are the Campus Center and Dick Moll's report.
V. Secretary's Report: Secretary Butland read a motivational poem to the Senate.
VI. Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Socha reported that he has no motions tonight and they will come up next week.
VII. Committee Reports:
-SGA Committees
CSLI: Chair Guthrie reported that the committee met yesterday. There will be a meeting on Monday at 6:30pm. Topics include: DAKA, committee by-laws, bulletin boards on campus, and the CDC.
P&P: Chair Snow reported that the committee had many motions coming up tonight. The by-laws for CSLI are also being worked on.
CAI: Chair Fairbanks reported that the weekly meeting is on Wed. at 9pm in Gompei's. Senator Mickey then reported on the Maple survey motion that is coming up tonight. Also, he spoke with Prof. Woods about the Social Science 'to pass' requirements.
Repositioning: Chair Mickey reported that the committee will meet on Wed. at 8pm Gompei's. Please have all your papers read.
Elections: Chair Waln reported that the C-term elections have been accomplished. The votes were tallied right before the meeting. All of the candidates have not yet been notified so the results will be posted in the office sometime tomorrow.
-Institute Committees
CAO: Senator Mickey attended the CAO meeting for Pat Sullivan and reported on it.

Motion 12c.95-Senator Fairbanks moved that the survey on Maple, as presented by CAI, be accepted as an official SGA document. Senator Mickey seconded. Question #7 was amended by Fairbanks to read, 'Did you have computer experience prior to taking a Maple based Calculus course?'. Motion passed with one (1) abstention.
Motion 13c.95-withdrawn by Treasurer Socha.
Motion 14c.95-withdrawn by Treasurer Socha.
Motion 15c.95-An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Senator Finley seconded. Motion passed.
Motion 16c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Senator Finley seconded. Snow moved to amend, Plack seconded. Amendment made. Butland moved to table the amendment, Macierowski seconded. Amendment tabled. Guthrie moved to table the motion, Plack seconded. Motion tabled.
Motion 17c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Butland seconded. Motion passed with three (3) abstentions.
Motion 18c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Plack seconded. Daly moved to call the question, Hallissey seconded. Question called. Motion passed with two (2) abstentions.
Motion 19c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Cleary seconded. Daly moved to call the question, Hallissey seconded. Question called. Motion passed.
Motion 20c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Connelly seconded. Motion passed with two (2) abstentions.
Motion 21c.95- An Act to Amend the Constitution. Senator Snow moved, Stagg seconded. Motion passed.
Motion 22c.95-An Act to Amend the Bylaws. Snow moved, Finley seconded. Hall and Hallissey proxied their votes to Fairbanks. Motion passed.
Motion 23c.95-A Resolution for the Ceremonial Transfer of Power. Snow moved, Daly seconded. President Findlen passed his gavel to Vice-President Abrams. Butland moved to call the question, Mickey seconded. Question called. Motion passed.
Fairbanks moved to take motion 16c.95 from the table. Plack seconded.
Motion 16c.95 taken from the table with five (5) abstentions. Macierowski proxied his vote to Finley. Plack moved to call the question, Mickey seconded. Question called. Snow called for division. Motion passed 16-3-3.
Senator Plack moved to adjourn, Senator Spaleta seconded, motion passed.
X. Meeting adjourned at 7:14pm.
