ASME

Everyone knows the greatest organization on campus is the ASME. Everyone wants to be a part of the tradition, the honor, and the prestige that comes with being a member of the most popular and respected group at WPI. When companies come on campus, do you know who they come to first? The ASME. When the CDC wants campus leaders, do you know who they ask? The ASME. When people want to go where the action is, where do they look? That's right... March Madness comes to WPI, it's the ASME Baby! (Not the CIVIL SOCIETY)

There's only one thing better than being a member of the ASME, and that's being an ASME officer. I know it sounds impossible to even dream so high. I know your friends are going to tell you that you're crazy. But, take it from an officer AND a dreamer, it can happen. All you have to do is show up at the next meeting (It was going to be a formal, but VP MARK's waist is so big that he can't fit into his tux anymore so dress is optional) on THURSDAY, March 30 at 8:30 PM (we'll be done before Seinfeld). Hold on, you too can be President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary. Don't be shocked to witness a few surprises like a special guest appearance by Secretary SUE, and perhaps an even extra special, special first time public appearance by a certain high ranking officer's high school ASME "liaison". Learn Tres. JOE's secret of not writing a check all year; Pres. DAN's laugh when promising not to do anything; Sec. SUE's all work/no credit policy; VP MARK's bacon recipes. FREE PIZZA (SERIOUSLY), CHECK POSTERS IN HIGGINS & DANIELS FOR LOCATION.

Bacchus

Hello! It's me, your publicity chair (Greg, I have your job now). This article represents my first effort at doing my job since I got it. Before I say anything else, I want to congratulate those members who were elected into "executive positions" at the end of last term. This comes a little late, but somebody forgot to submit articles for the last three issues of Newspeak... Also, while I'm on the subject of congratulations, special awards go to Terri who successfully missed 27 consecutive meetings and Zigmund who has missed 15 - please come to the next meeting for your trophies and prize money. Jody should be mentioned for finding something for WPI EMS to do on an otherwise uneventful Tuesday night, donations will be accepted for the assistant-treasurer's band-aid fund this Friday and Saturday. John, we're all very happy that you got to go skiing over break! Where's my postcard? Oh, before I forget and everybody else does too: Bacchus meets every Tuesday night at 6:00, in room hmmm, I dunno. More on that later - watch for the customary E-mail. Susan, that club activity for the end of D-term sounds great (off the record, I still like Tim's idea) - Ann, you're not gonna hit me again, are you? Well, I think I've run out of stuff to say, so I'll stop writing now. Bye!

Chinese Student Association

Greetings, everyone. How is everyone doing after about 2 weeks of classes?...hang in there...only about 5 more weeks to go. Well, well, well...let's see what's happening with CSA this term....

Ok, I trust that we just had our first D term General meeting yesterday at 4:30 and quite a few things got accomplished. Hmm...elections were held and you now have a batch of new (and perhaps not-so-new) officers. Guess no one killed anyone else over a position and the whole process ran smoothly (everyone was quite civilized and Campus Police did not have to be called). Who really are the officers for the coming year is yet a mystery to me (yes, even me...my little crystal ball broke down so...) at this point in time...so...anyway, if you are reading this right now, you should know who your new hopefully-fearless leaders are. Oh, and besides electing the officers, a Member of the Year award was given out (along with a gift certificate to the WPI Bookstore from our dear advisor, Roger) to the member (excluding officers) that contributed to CSA the most during the past year. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS...whoever.

The Cultural Festival that is coming up on April 8th was also discussed. As you know, CSA is planning to do quite a few things this year and we need everyone's help...please .... Anyway, more detailed info will be out on that later. Oh yes, and a great big "thank you" to everyone that remembered to bring their 8 bucks for the cool-looking CSA sports T-shirt. Hopefully it will be out within a week or so.... If you didn't bring your money and you want a T-shirt, *tsk tsk* (you should be spanked)...remember to get it to one of the officers ASAP so everyone can get their shirts quickly.

Well, that's about it for this week then. Remember to cheer your teams on as they compete in Floor Hockey, Soccer, and Softball!...come on out and play (and enjoy the beginning of Spring at the same time). Okey dokey, take care. Later. Peace.

Christian Bible Fellowship

Phew! One week down.. I don't know about you, but everyone I have talked to has said that this has been the fastest, yet longest, week of the year. If you are looking for a way to get a break from school and things keep on reading. If not, well keep on reading anyway.. There are a couple of changes going on this week: BAKE SALE is today in the wedge, go have something. Wed Prayer and Share will be in Morgan A, like usual, but it will be at 8pm. (I repeat.. 8pm!) Hey, and listen to this "Tough Sailing in a Real World". Does this sound familiar? Well then, if you haven't signed up for this conference this weekend, you had better do so. It is going to be a great time of spending time together (away from school) and finding out more about the Lordship of Christ.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." (Romans 12:12 NIV) Wow! What a tall order! It is incredibly challenging to always be joyful, patient and faithful. I think that it is a challenge that we should all embrace. Why can't we be joyful in hope? Jesus gives us hope. Why can't we be patient in affliction? Jesus gives us patience. Why can't we be faithful in prayer? Jesus gives us faith. If Jesus gives us all of this and more, isn't it time for us to seek Him with your whole self? He will provide for us.

Lens and Lights

Well, somehow we managed to get every event done over break. Thanks to all those who helped out (Greg, Amy, and Rob). Saturday was marathon LnL day. Unfortunately, I was stuck in Harrington all day. Now we are moving into D-term. With the summer coming up, graduation is right around the corner. The new exec board is managing to pull things together. We all seem to be settled in now. For those of you who still do not know who we are, we're the ones who run around with keys at all the concerts and plays. And soon you will see many of us at Indiefest and Quadfest, which are both rapidly approaching, so look out WPI. And if you want to join our little club, it's not too late. just come to a meeting in AK 233 on Wednesday at 4:30. Hope to see you there!

Masque

Congrats to all of the new officers! Keep those nominations for alpha psi omega rolling in. So what do you think about us being included in Fine Arts, for some pretty good publicity (e-mail questions on that to Karen at keg@wpi)? Happy D-term when this comes out on Tuesday seniors will only have 37 days til they are outta here. And there you have it, folks-- not much else to say except

BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR N.V. 1-3!!!

GET INVOLVED! e-mail lissa@wpi for info. Meeting Friday, 4:30, green room (behind the stage, Great Hall of Alden, etc)

Mu Sigma Delta

Hey everyone! Well because I am writing this on Thursday and our meeting is today, I have no idea what the results of the elections will be? Who cares anyway...Special note to the married guy "You're a friggin' dork" from Dave. I had no part in that by the way. This term will be partly devoted to planning stuff for next year and getting new officers settled. I hope you all are full of ideas and ready to share them. Feel free to use "medvetnews" as a way of asking questions or finding people to help with projects or activities. Don't forget about our advisor though, Jill is always ready to help with questions that you might have! Has everyone finished filling out all of their med school applications? I wish you the best of luck in getting into the schools of your choice. The word of the week is GERBIL. Just don't even bother asking about that one. I had a cool giraffe pencil once, and a gerbil ate his eyes out. I hope the furball choked on them! With that, I leave you for the week! If you happen to be reading this and have forgotten about our meeting it is TONIGHT in Salisbury Labs rm 104 at 4:30! So show up dammit. Have a nice week...guppy!

National Society of Pershing Rifles

Hello to all reading this. This past weekend was a busy, but fun one for us out at Camp Edwards. We (well, some of us) got to be OPFOR for a day, which should have been a pretty good time. The rest of us learned some survival training, and hopefully all I'll have to say is that it tastes like chicken!

On to business at hand. We have 3 Color Guards coming up (Apr 9, 23 & 30), so try to keep these days open. Anyone who has not yet paid dues for this semester must do so NLT 5 Apr 95.

PLEDGES!! I know you have your Pledge pads, but I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY! What are you waiting for? You also want to start your Pledge project soon as well, as time is starting to run short...

Note: Operation Brickhunt - 5 Apr 95. Be Ready.

Society of Women Engineers

We discussed several topics at our last meeting, including the successful candy/t-shirt sales, the next Girl Scout Day (April 1st from 8:30 to 11am), and a possible program with Girls, Inc. of Worcester. We will be selling penny candy in the mailroom one day a week throughout D-term. If anyone would like to help out, contact Marie at johny@wpi. Only a few meetings are left...please come to OH126 on April 4th at 7pm and share any ideas you have for this year or next!
