Minutes for the meeting of March 21, 1995
Meeting held in Atwater Kent 219
I. Meeting called to order at 5:53 pm.
II. Attendance:
Executive Board: Greg Findlen, President; Fiona Abrams, Vice Pres.; Rachel Butland, Sect.; Don Socha, Treas.
Senate: Cathy Connelly, Nat Fairbanks, John Grossi, Lee Guthrie, Marni Hall, Ed Hallissey, Lucie Lasovsky, Jason Macierowski, Jason Mickey, Amy Plack, Dave Smith, Greg Snow, Kristen Stagg, Chizzy Uchendu, Cara Valliere, Cindy Vollaro, Joe Waln.
Absent: Heather Cleary (excused), Ryan Daly (excused), Shannon Finley (excused), Deb Foley (excused), Beth Gentry (excused), Rebecca Hoffman (excused), Seth Kintigh, Jeff Spaleta, Tim Tully (excused), Shelby Walker (excused).
Parliamentarian: Jason Averill
Senator Plack proxied her vote to Senator Snow until she could arrive.
III. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the meeting held February 28, 1995 were approved with no amendments.
IV. President's Report: The Cabinet meetings will be on Fridays at 4:30 pm.
V. Vice-President's Report: If you haven't signed up for office hours yet, please do so as soon as possible.
VI. Secretary's Report: Heather Cleary, Ryan Daly, Shannon Finley, Deb Foley, and Tim Tully are all away this term so it is important that everyone come to the meetings so that we will have quorum.
VII. Treasurer's Report: Class III budgets will be voted on by Appropriations tonight. Coach Griffith will be talking to Treas. Socha about the rugby team.
VIII. Committee Reports:
-SGA Committees
CAI: Chair Fairbanks reported that the committee will be meeting every Wednesday at 9 pm in Gompei's.
PR: Chair Lasovsky reported that 35 - 40 people came to the meeting with President Brown. Members please give her your schedules so a meeting time can be set.
P&P: Chair Snow reported that a sub-committee has been formed to look at the financial by-laws. This will be done after the budgeting process is finished.
WPI Repositioning: Chair Mickey asked for everyone's schedules so that a meeting time can be found.
-Institute Committees
CAP: Jason Averill reported that the committee is looking into whether or not students can get paid for MQP work. There will be e-mail coming about this.
CSA: Senator Connelly reported that the committee is looking into restructuring itself so that it represents what it is named.
IX. Old Business: none
X. New Business:
Motion 1d.95- Senator Fairbanks moved that SGA approve the survey as written by CAI to be distributed to students who took Maple Calculus. Senator Hall seconded. Motion passed with one (1) abstention.
Motion 2d.95- Senator Uchendu moved SGA approve the Class I FY '96 budgets as recommended by the OCFC and ultimately approved by appropriations. Senator Waln seconded. Motion passed with four (4) abstentions.
Motion 3d.95- Senator Snow moved that SGA approve the Class II FY '96 budgets as recommended by the OCFC and approved by the Appropriations Committee. Secretary Butland seconded. Motion passed with three (3) abstentions.
Senator Plack moved to hear new business. Senator Waln seconded. Motion passed.
Motion 4d.95- Senator Plack moved that the senate approve the decisions of the OCFC Class III and Appropriations by funding the Lens and Lights Club in the amount of $4576.50. Senator Macierowski seconded. Motion passed with 6 abstentions.
XI. Announcements:
-A P&P meeting time will be announced next week.
-CAI members please stay after the meeting tonight.
-Campus Hearing Board election petitions will be available later this week.
-Quadfest meeting tonight in the Lower Wedge at 7 pm.
Senator Waln moved to adjourn, Senator Snow seconded, motion passed.
XI. Meeting adjourned at 6:22 pm.
