Alden Voices

Hey we've changed our name and want to let everyone know about it and what better way than performing our second annual CABARET! It is called "100 Years of Broadway" and features songs from "Les Miserables" and "Phantom of the Opera." For those of you who don't know, it's April 29 in Alden Hall. If you need ticket information talk to Kathi or email her (starr@wpi). Rehearsal schedules will be updated in The Voice.

Don't forget...THURSDAY IS BAGEL AND COFFEE DAY!!! in Salisbury Lounge. (group 2 this week!)

Alpha Phi Omega

Well this is gonna be a quick one cause it's going in under the wire....This weekend was the Walk for Habitat....I'm sure it was great fun! Also, UMOC is coming up, so be on the lookout for that....

There are lots of committees out there that could use some support -- the fellowship committee, the History Committee, and the Constitution Committee....So JOIN JOIN JOIN!!! Let's support our brothers in their hard efforts.....

Congrats to the new pledge class officers!! Now its time to get cracking on coming up with those projects!! Be careful what you suggest, it just might come back to you, right Pea??

Oh..there are basketball games this week, and Jeff is gonna kill me cause I told him there would be no problem in putting the dates in, but I forgot the little sheet of paper!! Sorry.... I will make them available in the copy of the club corner when I put it into the APO account (~apo/Publicity/date_article_appeared).

Till next week...

ASME

Well after about a year of entertaining weekly ASME columns, this will be my last (I think). On to that later. Thanks to everyone who competed in the Papers contest last week and congrats to the winners. Good luck with the regionals. The contest went well and I got to eat a lot of cheese and dip for free, always a pleasure. Well, we elected new officers last week at our second annual "show up and get elected meeting," i.e. everyone ran unopposed. The new officers are John Albert-President, Josh Binder-VP, Cynthia Mitchell-Treasurer, and Jon Stewart-Secretary. Everyone seemed to enjoy the free pizza and all the different colored bug juice things we got. Last year we became officers and never really got anything explained to us, so I think this year we may actually have some type of orientation and advice (make fun of Civils, you always get laughs out of students and professors). Will the elusive Samuel Adams plant tour ever happen? Will the new officers reclaim Higgins as the doughnut capital of the school? Will the Civil Joke of the Week be resurrected? Will President Albert be a 2-time president? Will the Treasurer ever write a check this year? Who will replace former Pres. Dan's now infamous laugh? Will there be an ASME social that women show up to? Who knows, new officers it is up to you to find answers to these questions and raise some of your own...have fun and make sure you put it on your resume...Mark

Bacchus

Well, now that things have settled down a little since the beginning of the term, Bacchus has begun to make plans! For starters, we have begun to panic, I mean plan for Quadfest - this is our major event this term, so if you're reading this and don't know what I'm talking about - COME TO A MEETING AND GET INVOLVED! Bacchus is also looking into the possibility of showing a 3-D movie this year at freshmen orientation. This should be a great program, following last year's successful "around the campus party". The only hitch is that we need to set this stuff up now, so it is done before we leave for summer break. Last on the list of "cool stuff for D-term" is the rapidly developing club function: we've got it narrowed down to a trip to an amusement park somewhere on the eastern seaboard, sometime around the end of April. Maybe. I think we should go watch drag racing, but I have a funny feeling that nobody else does. So, that's it for current events in Bacchus this week. A continuation of last week's feature is the exiting climax of the postcard story: I will receive my postcard from John's skiing extravaganza in Tazmania, or wherever he was over break! - he just has to find it. -subject change- In case anybody still doesn't know, meetings are every Tuesday at 6:00 in room HL130. Susan, I promise to figure out which function goes with what organization: SAC, OCFC, SAE, OSHA... Finally, in an effort to add an amusing twist to the Bacchus Club Corner, I'm introducing the weekly (or whenever I get around to it) Bacchus Trivia Question! Just answer this question before next week's article: "How many cases of peach do we have?" (Assistant treasurer or related family members are not eligible for awards) Think hard now, gotta go!

Chinese Student Association

Hello, dear CSA people. Hope classes are going well so far in the term (had a couple of tests already, eh?) and that everyone can refrain from going out to play and do work instead...such nice weather out. Anyway, let's get down to business....

First off (you knew this was coming, didn't you?), a huge CONGRATS go out to the newly elected (and appointed, of course) 1995-1996 CSA officers. In case you still don't know, here's how things stand: Eric, 2nd year in office as da Prez, fearless of all things except chicken bones, forever on a diet, and believer of angels; Antonio, our new VPee, also known to some as Lai Lai, Dumb Dumb, or EMS man, a defender of all cats that say "mew", and one that loves the month of May when flowers bloom and little birdies sing; Kaki, from Secretary to Treasurer, a long-time CSA officer, maker of a million stars (well, close anyway), wonderful dancer of sorts, and one devoted to a certain Mr. P; Angela, our newly appointed Secretary, so sweet that she might melt in the sun, always liked the name Erica, and a great choice for office; Jack, the new SC, also known as Stupid Dumb to some, future inventor of Boy Scout cookies, a Brother, and still available; and finally, Chris, our new Historian, picture taker, Softball player, and oh-so-great typist. Well, there it is: your new officers/leaders/slaves. Oh, and also congrats to our most favorite Advisor, Roger, for remaining as Advisor again. Oh, also...great big congrats to our dear friend Charlie for being elected Member of the Year...you deserved it, pal. Take care! Later.

Christian Bible Fellowship

The Navigators conference in Albany was awesome this past weekend! If you weren't able to make it, I would like to encourage you talk with someone who did. I think that it will be encouraging for both of you. This week is going to be really exciting as we see the Lord continue to answer prayer. Wed night at 8pm in Morgan A we will be gathering to share with each other what the Lord has been doing and also to pray for each other. Bring a friend on Friday to FNF at 7pm in Morgan A and /or bring a friend to Sports on Sat at 10:30am.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.." (Romans 15:13 NIV) This verse has really encouraged me to step out and trust the Lord more completely. I have to continually remember where my Hope is and that God will fill me with joy and peace. Nothing else in this world can give me greater joy or peace than the One who created them. Where is our hope? Shouldn't we trust in the Lord? He is ready to embrace us with His joy and peace if we are willing to allow Him to come into our lives.

Hillel

Hello Friends,

Greetings from a very exhausted and on-duty senior advisor. I hope everyone is doing well as yet another year comes steadily to a close. For all of you freshmen, you won't be any more pretty soon and all of you juniors, except for SuperCarley, who will be going to Vet school, you will soon be seniors. Those of you who are going to be seniors, you have so much to look forward to.

Well, in club news, the Rabbi has been coming every Monday afternoon from 4:30 to 5:30p to talk about whatever anyone wants. For the next few weeks, he is going to talk about Pesach for obvious reasons. He will also be coming this Friday for a Shabbos experience if anyone would care to join him. As for Pesach, if you haven't gotten in touch with "Liverlips" Brian do so quickly. The Vinster and I are going to the Rotman's and we're going to try to get him to say "Faaaaaantastic."

That's all for now. Stay cool as the temperatures begin to rise, and just plain relax whenever possible (preferably all the time). Maybe I'll write another one of these things soon. As always, your senior advisor,

Jonathan '95

Lens and Lights

Well, here I am running around like a chicken with his head cut off, and then I remember that I also need to write up a club corner. So, here it is for this week. As I write this, Indiefest is just about to get underway, with many more wonderful acts to come this coming Friday (for those of you who missed the first one). Hopefully we will be able to get someone who can stay all day. Aside from that, events have been relatively quiet. We are still waiting for Quadfest to come, with great plans to light the Quad! We hope that you will all be there to watch as we all manage to kill ourselves, or at least severely injure. Anyway, I must get back, so that's all for this week. Hope to see you all next week.

Mu Sigma Delta

Hey there everybody! In case you are computer illiterate or just have little reason to check your email, I will let you know of the election results here. Amanda Gerry, that tenacious sophomore with the shiny Saab is our new president. Applause and congratulations are in order. Mike Remley, the sophomore king of IQP's and owner of a nice pair of beer goggles is back to work wonders as our illustrious vice-president! Saif Anwaruddin, an incoming freshman is taking over the interesting job of treasurer (bad pun sorry) so be on the lookout for increased revenue from a guy with "squirt" as his login! Then there is me as your secretary yet again...And there was much rejoicing! Hmmm, the word of the week is SALMONELLA, a horribly discomforting ailment that gives your classmates something to rib you about during class. Thanks to all of you who give this disease its due credit. Pass the pepto-bismol. On a different note. QUADFEST is almost upon us and I am going to be organizing it so volunteer to help or I will...well, I get to write this corner for another year so there is no telling what I might do. Big threats from your ever faithful, coffee-making, no I won't do the fishface, enterotoxin suffering secretary. If you have something to say, give medvetnews a try! I am glad that more people are taking advantage of it. Oh, and even though he doesn't read this, a hearty SEEYA to our EX-president to whom we all owe a great deal to for reviving this club last year! Have a nice week all! -guppy

National Society of Pershing Rifles

We've got a busy week ahead of us. Reminder on the color guard this weekend: we still need people. Let me know either way. Hopefully all will run smoothly and look good.

Pledges: Thank you for seeing me with your pledge pads. I hope you enjoyed it! Make sure to get ALL of your signatures soon. As far as your project goes, I haven't seen anything yet. Get it done soon.

Last reminder for troop: Get your dues in ASAP.

Society for Medieval Arts and Sciences

The big news is: This past Saturday, being April the First, 1995, was the Third Annual Feast of Chimeron. There was lots of food, prepared by Lady Cassa, and served by lots of people dressed in black clothes and white sashes. But what happened? you ask. Well, the major event, at least to many people, was the marriage of Baron Ironfist and Rebecca Silver. Our lord and lady have joined their hearts and souls...and their names. They are now known as Baron and Lady Silverfist. Huzzah and congratulations!

he next news, not even half so big, is that elections for next year's officers will be held soon. If you want to be sure you're getting the best officers possible, show up and vote. If you want to know what's really going on in all those closed "Officers Only" boardroom meetings (and wouldn't you just!), show up and have someone nominate you for an office. Our current office holders are:

President- Jeff Ogerzalek

Vice-President- Dave Joyce

Treasurer- Kimber Wood

Secretary- Kris Shepard

These will all be up for grabs. The date will be announced over email, so watch for it. It will occur at the beginning of the practice that evening.

We are also open to SCA people (Society for Creative Anachronism), and are receiving the Quintavian Milestone, prepared by Prof and Trish. If you care to browse the two issues we currently have, tell an officer, and they will get a hold of it for you.

And, as always: Practices are Monday and Thursday evenings, at 7:30.

Society of Women Engineers
